Tackling the Meringue

Hello everyone,

What's with me and late round-ups?I always post everything late!! It's not that I forgot about our baking group, it's my laziness plus some frozen shoulder & an arm. I have no idea how I landed up with that but I have a good idea how my days were after I got it. I could barely move or sleep on my left side. Any how, I am feeling much better today and here's the round up.

The members were given an option of baking a Meringue Cookie/Cake/Mushrooms.

We haven't been able to answer to most of your e-mails and we are sorry for that. Will be replying to all of them asap, our inbox looks like a junk yard with all the spam e-mails we have been getting. I know, some of you haven't recieved the Feb bake recipe. We have sent it out to all, but not sure how some of you are left out on that. Could you please add our e-mail id to your contact list...maybe that will prevent this confusion.

Things should fall into place from Feb onwards. Thanks for bearing with us.

Cheers!

November Punch : Mousse/ Souffle

Hello everyone,

Kindly let me apologise for the delayed round up for the November punch. It was one of the busiest months of 2010 for me, definately not as busy as February (we got married then!) :)

This month we gave the choice, spoilt the members with choice so that they could bake whatever suited their fancy rather their love handles! :) I usually pick a recipe depending on how much I feel like feeding my ever- so -grateful love handles! Sigh! :)

Here goes the round-up:

Molten Lava Cake

Hello All,

Sweet Punch October challenge was Molten Lava Cake chosen by Divya. She chose this recipe from Hetal and Anuja's Showmethecurry.com.Hope all of you enjoyed baking with us this month!!

Bharathy happened to read somewhere that MLC was accidentally created when someone baked a cake with an uncooked center!!She baked each ramekins individually and got different variations of Molten centers!!

Tushara,a non blogger was enthusiastic enough to try these even though she did not have ramekins. She baked it in little tea cups and it reminded her of the Lava cakes at Mocha!!

Molten Lava Cakes

Tushara

Divya[that's me-DUH],baked it with lots of hopes since I am such a big fan of Dominos Lava Cake. The recipe doesn't disappoint at all--Perfect Lava cakes one after the other.I wanted the center to be oozing so baked accordingly.Only downfall is waiting for the cake to cool down,I almost burnt my lips and tongue, but the Lava cakes sure made up for it!!

Divya

Nags gives me company here, lol. One more person who burnt her tongue whilst tasting this.So folks, learn from our mistakes--I know it is tough, but wait for the cake to cool down before tasting it!!

Nags

Gayathri shook herself out from her laziness and sent in these pictures. She added a little twist to the MLC by mixing in marshmallows into the batter.Wow!!

Molten Lava Cakes with Marshmallows

Gayathri

Faiza's last post was about 3 months back and that was a Sweet punch challenge hosted by me too..what a co-incidence Faiza..glad you resumed blogging!!

Faiza

Pavitra loved this challenge being a chocoholic herself..her pictures do full justice to the recipe!!

Pavitra

Aliena was very happy with this month's challenge as she could treat her bro-in-law with this yummy indulgence!!

Ally

Priya beat all of us by baking it four times in a row..yeah,that's how much her family loved this one!!And let us add one more to the burnt tongue list..lol!!

Priya

Priya loved it so much that she wanted to have it all for herself. Can't blame you Priya, being a chocoholic myself,I know exactly how that feels having gobbled down 3 of them myself..oops!!!

Priya_2

Ayeesha feels this is the best chocolate dessert to have.I agree, paired with Vanilla ice-cream,it is a combo nothing can beat!!

Ayeesha

Nimi found this challenge perfect as she had her parents and brother visiting. Not having a ramekin did not stop her from trying this out,she baked in little glass bowls!!

Nimi

Swapna halved the recipe and got 3 ramekins of Lava cake..was it enough Swapna??Lol!!

Swapna

Veena was very happy with the challenge as her daughter being a chocoholic was jumping in joy at the mention of MLC.She used Ganache to get a gooey center!!

Bhagyashri found it very difficult to resume blogging after a break.I know how that feels..but what better recipe to jump back into action than MLC..since you didn't get gooey centers, how about trying it out once again..??

Bhagyashri

Jayashree was apprehensive to use metal tins in her Microwave.I can so relate to you..I had the same worry when I first put in a metal cake tin..but be sure to use it only in Convection mode!!

Jayashree

Anu aka Miriganayani feels this is the best MLC recipe so far..she paired it with Vanilla bean ice-cream and I am sure it would have been dee-licious!!

Anu

Vidya made this prior to a dinner party and refrigerated it.Thanks Vidya,we've been getting queries asking if the batter could be refrigerated for later use.I guess since there isn't any baking powder or soda,it might work perfectly well.

Vidya

Divya feels tis is the best Cake ever and it cannot get any better than this..who are we to argue, right??

Divya_2

Ria baked this cake to celebrate 2 birthdays, her brothers' and her blogs'.Perfect treat to celebrate!!

Ria

Ann,the self proclaimed caboose who supposedly is the last one to enter the round-up train..lol!!Last,but definitely not the least!!!

Ann

So many entries,I think it is time I baked my second batch of MLC now.Thank you so much all of you for baking with us!!

Love,
Divya.

P.S - I hope I have not left out any entries. If so,please mail us your post url and pictures to asweetpunch@gmail.com or to the MLC challenge thread.Thank you.

Sweet Punch September Challenge - Golden Onion Quiche

Hello All,

Sweet Punch for September was a Savory Punch hosted by Ria.She chose Golden Onion and Chicken Quiche with variations for vegetarians.Hope all of you had a great time baking this one!!

Nags  was the first one to try this challenge providing a vegetarian alternative-Mushroom.

Nags_1

Aliena felt this was the Best Quiche she's ever eaten..wow Ally!!

Ally

Bharathy made Mini-quiches since she did not have a tart pan,but oh boy...don't they look cute??

Bharathy_1

Since I did not have a Tart pan too,I baked it in my Mini-Tart molds.I tried a Vegetarian version--the filling as well as the Pastry.

Divs

Seema baked this with her kids and loved every minute of it.

Seema

Swapna baked the Quiches in a Muffin pan and made some modifications in the recipe too!!

Swapna_1

Madhuli managed to post this challenge in the nick of time!!

Madhuli

Mriganayani baked the Quiche and a sweet Dessert too with the leftover Pastry base..Sweet and savory in one!!

Anu

Vidya baked a vegetarian version of the Quiche with Caramelised Onions and Potatoes!!

Vidya

Priya was happy to recreate the Quiche in her kitchen, something which she'd only seen in potluck parties!!

Priya

Bhagyashree had the same inhibition as I did,of eating eggs[in the Quiche],but she went ahead with the challenge anyway--Bravo!!

Bhagyashree

Veena made a vegetarian version too, substituing eggs for Silken tofu!!

Veena

Ayeesha was apprehensive to bake this due to the fear of baking Pastry bases, but she did a great job with this one!!

Ayeesha
Nimi did a late post, but definitely not the least for sure!!

Nimi

Priya had a great time baking this after a vacation, perfect one dish meal!!

Priya1
Naseela always wanted to be a part of a cooking group, she was a bit tensed when she read about her first challenge, but she overcame her fear and has come up with step by step photos of the same..great going girl!!

Naseela
Priya enjoyed baking the Quiche with a medley of vegetables!!

Z

Thank you for baking with us!!

Love,
Divya.
